Dale Phillips • President of DPIS Engineering
Dale Phillips is co-host of the Better Home Show, and offers listeners in-depth insight from over 34 years in the home construction industry. Dale has devoted his professional career to delivering top-notch quality and attention to detail as a certified building inspector, with a passion for forensic inspections and building codes. What this means to listeners is - Phillips has been a valuable player in the industry, invested many hours in continuing education, and mastered the rule of “Measure once - cut twice.”
A native Houstonian, Dale grew up with dreams of becoming a detective, athlete, or a carpenter, but quickly discovered he was not Perry Mason or Roger Staubach. In 1976, Dale took his first dive into the construction industry with a position at Fox and Jacobs Homes, responsible for framing and layout of residential structures. Blame it on the passion for a hard day’s work, or the sawdust inhalation, but Dale pursued the career path, and eventually formed DPIS Engineering in 1995.
Dale is president of DPIS Engineering, which performs 10,000 foundations a year, and conducts over 300 inspections per day. DPIS Engineering offers builders a reputable source for quality and excellency in the construction industry. Throughout his tenure in the business, Dale has served on the Greater Houston Builder’s Association board of directors, as well as the National Home Builder’s Association in 2007, and smacked his thumb with a hammer, at least, 50 dozen times.
Dale has been married to his wife, Sue, for 36 years, and they have three children - Carrie, Terra, and Ross. When Dale is not working his nine to five or on the air, he enjoys hunting, being outdoors, riding motorcycles, and making music with his band, Suthern Comfort.
